"Brick, Tradition, and Innovation" by Marko Galić and Josip Klarić

On June 26, 2024, an interesting lecture titled "Brick, Tradition, and Innovation" took place at Urania, delivered by Marko Galić, an architect from the firm Dva Arhitekta, and Josip Klarić, a project-technical advisor at Wienerberger Building Solutions. The event attracted numerous professionals from the fields of architecture and construction, serving as a platform for exchanging ideas and experiences.

The lecture was opened by Marko, who presented projects realized by Dva Arhitekta, highlighting the seamless blend of traditional brick techniques with modern architectural innovations. He showcased various projects, including the Tomac Winery in Jastrebarsko, and emphasized the firm’s commitment to sustainability and aesthetic excellence.

 

Following Marko’s presentation, Josip Klarić discussed the advanced solutions offered by Wienerberger, focusing on innovative brick systems like Porotherm IZO Profi and Porotherm Dryfix. He elaborated on the exceptional thermal properties of these products, which contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability in contemporary building practices. Klarić also presented case studies of buildings such as the CURA Cosmetic Competence Center in Innsbruck and the Multi-Purpose Hall L56 in Ljubljana, illustrating the multi practical applications of Wienerberger’s systems.

The audience was particularly interested in the environmental benefits of Wienerberger’s products, including the use of recycled materials in their waterproofing membranes. Klarić stressed the importance of Environmental Product Declarations (EPD) in promoting sustainable design and construction.

After the formal presentations, attendees had the opportunity to network and discuss the topics further during a reception with refreshments.
